ATI Radeon HD 4890
Gamers will tell you that it is all about the speed with every single bit of special effects cranked up to the maximum without losing a single frame, but unfortunately for the average man on the street, purchasing a couple or even three of such high-end video cards places a great strain on the monthly budget, which is why high-end video cards are never the main bread-and-butter products for companies that churn them out, although they are great technological breakthroughs and examples worth drooling over. AMD’s recent launch of the ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics card that was touted to be the most powerful graphics processor in the world is now even better, as AMD has made available a factory overclocked graphics processor which will be the first of its kind to break the 1GHz barrier using nothing but standard air-cooling solutions.

Apple iPhone vs Palm Pre
Want more evidence that the Pre release is imminent? How about AT&T sending a document around their internal network for employees to bone-up on some anti-Pre, pro-iPhone talking points …and then holding some in-store seminars for employees to make sure they get the message?
There are a few points here that are indisputable, but fans of the Pre might take umbrage at a few of the things here about the Pre (click the image above for the full size):

Pirate Bay found guilty
The Swedish courts announced their ruling against Pirate Bay administrators Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg and Peter Sunde. The group was found guilty of contributing to copyright infringement through their site The Pirate Bay, and were sentenced to 1 year in prison, as well as $3.6 million dollars in fines to be paid to Sony BMG, Warner Bros. and other record labels. The slight bit of good news here is that the Pirate Bay won’t be going anywhere, and will remain operational, as the technology is 100% legal.

Palm Pre launching no earlier than May 16 ?
We’ve been made privy to some Sprint planning documentation that implies that the carrier is looking to get all its Pre ducks in a row by May 16, which would suggest that there’s no way in hell it’s launching any earlier than that. Ultimately, that could mean we’re looking at a launch on the 17th — a Sunday, as Sprint launches often are — or any time after that, but since Palm continues to reaffirm its first half commitment, we’d say that we’re now down to a window between 5/17 and 6/30. Awesome.

Skype to come to the iPhone next week?
Exclusive Heads up: A few months ago, I asked Skype CEO Josh Silverman when was he going to launch the iPhone version of the P2P voice and IM service that has now been downloaded more than 405 million times. He smiled and said, “Stay tuned.” And so we did.
A tipster — a very reliable one — tells me that Skype is almost ready to launch that iPhone version, perhaps as soon as next week. CTIA Wireless, a large mobile industry trade event, kicks off in Las Vegas next Wednesday, so perhaps the announcement will be made there. I am working on getting more details, as well as screenshots of the service.

For those of you who poke fun at Apple’s design philosophy, you have some new joke material. Not to be outdone by the single button concept on the iPhone, Apple has created a device with ZERO buttons. The new iPod Shuffle concept might just fool you for an Onion story: no buttons, proprietary headphones, and next you’re going to tell me it talks to me too, right?
